A Complete McKinsey Style MECE Decision Tree…done by Booz

Every book, blog, article and guide about management consulting and joining firms like McKinsey, Bain, BCG, AT Kearney, Roland Berger, Booz and so on, expresses the importance of applying MECE to solve consulting problems. Without understanding this key concept you are unlikely to be recruited by these firms and will almost certainly be managed out. So why is it that not a single online reference can offer a complete MECE example? I can tell you why. It is very difficult to properly complete a MECE example. Therefore many sites can tell you that need to learn how to apply MECE but many cannot show you how to do it.

Don’t worry. You can find a complete example here. In this posting we offer a complete MECE example as used, we have been told, by the Greek government to change the strategy in a development bank to bolster economic development. This is a Booz engagement and the slides have the clients color scheme and layout. As you can see, breaking down a problem using MECE is difficult and requires lots of skill and practice. We hope you find this example useful. If you want to learn how to apply MECE in a real management consulting project there is only one place to learn this.
