Firmsconsulting Capability Center
The Firmsconsulting Capability Center is a Firmsconsulting curated learning center for management consultants and aspiring consultants committed to improving the state and values of the profession through the sharing of ideas, concepts and information to shape global, regional and industry agendas.
As at 07 January 2012, the center contained approximately 250,000 toolkits, templates and methodologies, 190 videos on management consulting concepts, 77 podcasts on lifestyle and career management topics, sector-specific training material, a dedicated research studio staffed by ex-consulting associates and a moderated Q&A forum with over 2,000 researched responses.
Managed as a not-for-profit foundation since 2011, and headquartered in Toronto, Canada, the center is tied to no political, consulting or national interests. The flagship event of the center is the invitation-only annual management consulting strategy discussion and dinner held every year at the end of November in Toronto, Canada bringing together the 10 most influential members of the community from its 3,000 members.

I applied for membership in August. I have not got the access yet. Does it mean that my application was rejected?

Hi J,
If your application was rejected, you would get an email stating as much. We respond to all applications. If you have not yet received an email, it means it is still under review.
We review as we open spaces in the center.

Hello,
have you change the membership policy? On the Capability Center website, there is stated “Each month, the 500 lowest contributing members, as measured by both the frequency and quality of contributions, are managed-out to create room for new members.”

The membership policy is exactly as stated on the website. Each month the system terminates the accounts of the 500 lowest members and then allocates membership to the next group selected.
If the policy changes, this will appear on the website.

Is the Capability Center still accept new members? There has been no news about new Capability Center members for two months.

Hi Tamadi,
Yes, we accept new members roughly every month. This month we have been heavily focused on case training and executive training so we have moved back the new entrants by 30 days. We will announce new members at the start of October when 600 new members will be approved, and 600 current members have their membership frozen.

thank you for your answer. I have a few more question about the application. How much time does it take you to analyze the application? When can I expect the membership if I apply this week? Do you provide feedback if you do not accept the application?

Hi Tamadi,
Given the volume of applications, it takes about 4 weeks to review an application. Approved applications are then placed on a waiting list to take the place of someone whose membership is frozen – membership is capped at 3,000. If you apply this week and you are approved, it will take 2 to 3 months.
We do not provide feedback on declined applications, due to the sheer volume of applications.
